Justin Verlander

Stifled the hottest hitting team in the world Sunday night, going 7 2/3 scoreless innings against the Red Sox. It was his 5th win of the year and an important one for Detroit who had been 0-5 against Boston so far this season. The only potential problem with Verlander's start was the fact that he threw 132 pitches but Jim Leyland decided to lean on his horse heavily in order to get the victory. The move ended up paying off.
